Below is an outline of three possible days, each covering a different aspect of careers. A choice of one, two or three days can be booked in relation to the areas the schools may feel they need support, when administering their Gatsby Benchmarks. Those students who would like to take part will expect something like the below:-
Day 1
- Introductions and Welcome
- Learning Activities around Career Aspirations
- Activity 1 - Communication, Active Listening and Team Working
- Focus Session on CV Planning
- Activity 2 - Personality Profiling
- CV and Covering Letter Writing Session (PC's required)
- Activity 3 - Summary of the Day provided by the Students
Day 2
- Welcome Back
- Activity 1 - The Interview Shield
- Prepping for interviews
- Activity 2 - Building Rapport and Social Interaction
- Mock Interview
- Planning
- Activity 3 - Building your own Business
Day 3
- Welcome Back
- Activity 1 - What to expect when with an employer
- A focus on work placements
- Activity 2 - Building your own Business Recap/Group Presentations
- Personality Profiling linked to Work Suggestions
- Activity 3 - Summary and Take Away Points provided by the Students
The above is open to suggestion and can be created inline with the high school career objectives and not all three days need to be booked.
In order to ensure cross curricular learning, we can also encourage core subjects to be linked with employment activities. So for example, the Building your own Business element can also be linked into Business Studies, English, Maths amongst other subjects.
